ROCKBASS IS RIGHT ABOUT ALL OF THE WTS. THE THING THAT WAS HARD TO BELIVE FOR ME AT FIRST WAS THE MOTOR OIL IN THE HYD. LIFT. I USE 30 WT. IN MINE WITH NO PROBLEMS.

I would have thought an Owner of a Model M would have given you an answer by now. So..... ..

I recently ask a question about oils for my JD '58 420u. What I got out of it was this

Steering Housing - GL1 140 or if it is empty use Corn Head Grease Final Drive - GL1 140 Transmission-Differential - GL1 140 Power Shaft - GL1 140 Crankcase - SAE 10W-30 non-detergent or 10w or 30w non-detergent motor oil (depending on season)
Touch-O-Matic - 10w non-detergent motor oil

I could only find GL1 90 when I was looking so that is what I used (what the owner's manual said to use)

I not sure if it would be the same for your tractor (other members are more experienced than me), but it is a place to start.
