I Have a 41 JD B and about a month ago my tube blew out through a rust hole in the rim. I went to remove the wheel to replace the rim and tube and noticed the wedges were casted right onto the wheel rather than onto a bolt up hub. They were also broken of. When I went to look for a replacement no one around here has heard of this. I was wondering if anyone else has seen one or if they know where to get one. I have already installed a new cast with bolt on hub so its not that big of deal though. Thanks Al

41JDb,
All rear wheels (steel, cast, round spoke, etc.) had cast-in hubs until 1944, when heavy duty steel wheels were introduced with bolt-in hubs to solve hub breakage problems.

Cast wheels (for rubber tires) with bolt-in hubs weren't available yet in April 1945, but were by early 1946.

It is rather common to find bolt-in hubs on cast wheels in which the cast-in hubs broke, and some torch/chisel work was done to remove remnants of the cast in hub, drill holes, and attach a new bolt-in hub.
