Restoring a 70 Diesel Standard serial no. 7030444. As we started stripping it down we have found yellow paint in some locations of frame, dash panel, pto and fuel tank. No real evidence of yellow on sheet metal. I had a search done and found it was shipped to a Branch in Kansas City, Missouri and a final destination of Glasco Kansas. The information I have read in Two Cyclinder and on weird deere.com don"t seem to indicate Deere would have shipped this tractor in industrial yellow but I was hoping someone out there may know if any industrial 70"s ever shipped or if you have idea where I might start to try and find this tractors history since their is no longer a dealership in Glasco.

mine is a 1950 B and it also has the yellow "primer" under the green. it"s a good indication that you have anunrestored original .

think the 60 I have is the same way and know the 720D has yellow primer under the green, is real noticiable under the engine casting when removed for repairs.

34deere...that yellow is the primer that was used to keep the parts from rusting before it got sprayed with green paint. All 70's have that yellow paint somewhere under the green. The only item you mentioned that I haven't seen yellow paint on is the fuel tank as that was galvanized so primer was not needed.
