The 1939 was a Hercules engine originally & was not set up for a starter.

The old timers used to lift a wheel of the old Model T"s too help start them. Where these so easy to crank start that nobody ever came up with some other way to start them?

With everything correct with the Hercules, it is usually a 2 to 3 quarter turn starting engine. We have one that can be started by gripping the belt pulley & rolling it like a flywheel.
