I'm trying put together a 40B in original condition. I know the fuel rod was half moon where it mate up with the coupler. I found NOS fuel coupler but it wasn't half moon but only has one cotter pin hole. my question did the end of the shaft on the fuel valve itself be half moon and valve and rod held together with coupler? thanks

Jim I am restoring a 39-40 B and have the original thee way fuel valve and rod. Both the valve and rod are half moon shaped and the index stop has only one hole for a cotter pin. Dave

That must be one of those parts (of several) special to only the 39-40 ? I have only had earlier and later ones. Those may be real hard to find !

Any of the fuel valves I've seen that had a rod hooked to them to run up through the dash the valve was round 1 cotter pin hole a round coupler with 1 cotter pin hole at each end (maybe even 90* from each other)then the rod round with 1 cotter pin hole.

I think I saw one that was flat on one side but it was jurry rigged.
