Im restoring a 41 b that had the break pedals completely frozen. After several hours of heat and pb I got them all apart. I found one was missing the brake pad and the other was paper thin and crumbling.

I can only find brakes for the 201000 and up bs.

Where is the best place to pick up some for my 41?

Also do I need to clean up the inside drum part?

I ship mine to "Hickory Clutch" in Hickory,NC and have him to reline them for me...along with my clutch replacements etc.

I forgot to add if you can't find someone with a rivet machine there was posts here about an aviation supply house that sold a decent looking one reasonable. Maybe you can find the link in the archives ?

There is to a trick to those rivets. If you put a bolt head against the back of the rivet you can use a prick punch to start it and then use a bigger one to roll it over although it would be easier with a machine lol!

I've never needed to try them otherwise as my uncle has an old foot operated rivet press and I was lucky enough to get an old one of my own in a tractor deal with a fellow that had an old car garage. Some of the old shops still have them hiding in a corner. I think that one from the aircraft place was under $20.00 ?

I would clean up the inside of the drum and if grooved badly I have even turned them in a lathe.

Are your shoe linings the ones that are short at one end and don't cover the entire shoe ? I have used the ones for the late B's and just cut off the extra. I tried one without cutting them off and the drum would not go on. Your JD dealer or aftermarket sources should have them. I'd just go with the best price as the JD ones aren't what they used to be.
