I have a JD 1010RU S/N 49,5xx. I would like to add a Hyd Remote. It did not come with one and it appears not many others did either. I have found one for $700. This seems steep to me. Is this a fair price for the complete setup and is it going to add to the value of the tractor? What are my alternatives to the JD setup? I have not had limited luck in finding info on aftermarket setups for this tractor. Is the hydraulic system on this tractor open or closed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Chris

Me too.

I have a "1965 John Deere 1010RU serial#57085" that does not have "remote hydraulics".

Needless to say, I'm very interested in adding as it would allow other types of implements.

Any info would be greatly appreciated,

Osage

What serial number? The late 1010's had a different high pressure hydraulic system. While you can cobble something together with parts from TSC. It will look like something cobbled together by a farmer with odd parts from TSC.

The serial number on my 1010 is 49,596. I have found information that tells me this tractor has a open hydraulic system.

It's the later high pressure hydraulic system used after serial number 42,000. Your 1010 must be near the tail end of production.

Thanks for the info, what does this mean for adding a hydraulic output.

You need high pressure parts.

JD

First confirm that you have an open center system, I would bet you do. If so give me an email and I will send some info and a couple of pictures on how to set up an open center remote in the system.

It will still cost you a little over 100 but it will be all new stuff. If you email, make sure you put something in the subject like 1010 to key me into not automatically dumping the email cus I don't recognize the sender.

Ray and Henry J. I like your guys ideas and price too and I"m not so concerned for $500 difference about the antiquety part either. If I plumbed into the pressure line coming from the pump and fed that to a control valve, wouldn"t I need to have a return line somewhere tied in? I guess that brings me back to one of my original questions is the hydraulic system a closed or open? Forgive me if some of these questions seem stupid. I really like this forum, it is nice to be able to get some good info from someone who knows. Thanks, Chris

You can plumb into the hydraulic line that comes from the pump, and buy one of those hydraulic valves from a farm store like farm&fleet,TSC etc
and make your own system for less than 100 bucks.

Chris

I dunno, I think that price would be way out of my league.

If you have someone that has the other parts book I think the late 420 and 430 would be the same, but I don't have any idea about the mounting brackets.

Doing an aftermarket one would be a piece of cake, but it wuld look like something that is used and not an antique.
