Hey Folks:

I"m new to my 1960 JD 730 Row Crop Electric start and am wanting to start plowing with it here very soon. I"ve checked all fluids except for one, which I cannot find. I cannot find out where to check the rear end/transmission fluid. I assume the fill is the cap that comes up through the floor pan behind the shifter lever. Where is the dipstick? What type of oil does it use?

Thanks!

On the right hand side of the fly wheel cover is a 1/2 bolt open it up and the oil should run out if fill to proper level, If not add oil to the filler cap in the floor board, In the south I use 140# tranmission lube, You may need 85/140 if you live up north. Someone else may want to chime in on your question.
Where are you located? Good luck Ben
