I am trying to adjust the valves on my B (Tappet Clearence) . The book calls for .20 hot. What part of the stroke should i be at when I adjust them. Thanks for the help! Al

Thanks I got her adjusted. She is running better but probably is still in need of a valve job. AL

Doesn't adjusting them to a zero clearance at TDC compression then backing the adjusters off two flats give proper adjustment even WITH worn tappet levers?

Seems I recall reading in some Deere publication that given worn tappet levers this is a better and more acurate way of setting them than using feeler gauges.

Or you can go .022 cold and when using the feeler gauge method also make sure your rocker arm tips don't have wear indents in them or your measurement will be off.

TDC top dead center or on the compression stroke. pull out the spark plugs and put your thumb over the left hole and roll it over by hand and when it starts to blow thumb off continue until it stops blowing then look at the marks on the flywheel where it says impluse and line up the marks on the flywheel and on the trans cover( The cover mark maybe a bent over lip) and at that time the mag will click and adjust the valves on the left side and do the same for the right side
