Be careful! Their is two different hoods that fit late model As' (late '47-52). I bought two hoods w/gas tanks complete from a guy and when I got home they were different from each other. Both were straight gas-burner hoods but one has a seperate hole for the steering shaft to pass through behind the air cleaner and the other has the steering shaft pass through the hood WITH the air cleaner (in the same hole). See what you got first.

Has one gas tank and serial starts with 638 so only late model will work. The tape in hand is a good idea. Thanks.

Joe and Doug, after rereading my reply I said "any" A. I should have said "any" late styled A starting with 584000 up.

CLW,

The hood on my 47A slantdash has about 3+ inches between the fuel fills. My 44A has 2+ inches between the fill holes. I know the 47 is original and that the 44 hood has been replaced. Not sure where the 44's hood came from.

Doug

Joe, do you have the small tank on your A? If so you should be able to use a gas or all-fuel hood from any A up to serial number 662728. At serial number 662729 they went to the 18 gallon tank for gas tractors. This would have had only one tank. Then it says (Two-Cylinder 1998, July-Aug) that serial number 655572-662728 were equipped with a one gal. auxiliary gas tank again. I would think if the hood has the correct number of fill holes it will fit. If you can find one with a complete tank and hood from a late A you may get the whole thing and be safe. It does not say anything about the fill holes being moved, but take a tape with you to be sure.
