I found a f145 4x16 semi mount plow nearby and wondered if my 730D will pull it. I need another plow like a hole in the head but I thought they would look good together at plow days etc. Any serious plowing I do with a 4230 and don't do much of that anymore. The 730 is a strong runner, it dynoed at 73hp turned up.
It also has front and wheel weights.
Thanks

I pulled a 4- 16" semimount with a 730 diesel. Was in 2nd gear, but the tractor has since been overhauled and has a bit more power. I had 400 lbs out front and could've used a few more though.

It makes a lot of difference as to what type of soil you have and your depth of plowing. In ND, we pulled either 5-14s, or 4-16s, pull type plows with "R"s, 5 to 6 inches deep.

You will need a special hitch adapter since the 730 is a top link sensing system. They weren't terribly successful however. Its pretty hard to get the correct tumbling action on the center link with the adapter. You would be better off with a fully mounted plow or a pull type.I had a 5-14 pull type for several years ,then traded it for a 4-16 pull type.
I set my 730 at 65 horsepower,if I remember right.I set the high idle at 1300 RPM, which is about as high as the lead governor weights will go before being thrown off.Yep,I did that once.

We pull a 4-16 roll-over plow fully mounted with ours Steve

Although 3-16's would be a better choice for your 730, it should handle the 4-16's OK in light to medium soil. The F145H was reducable, in fact there is even directions how to do so in the operators manual. A semi-mounted plow also pulls somewhat easier than a pull type, but you will need quite a bit of weight on the front of the tractor.
