Hopefully someone here knows the answer, a question has been brought up about powerblocks, were they available from dealer or strictly aftermarket? I have heard that dealers actually encouraged farmers to install these. anyone know?

joecool,
I did some research on Power Blocks for a talk I gave at the last Gathering of the Green. They were designed, built, and sold only by Tractor Supply, and first appeared in the 1957 Blue Book for the A and 60. They were available until 1972. Deere Branch House bulletins indicated Deere did not approve of the Power Blocks, but individual dealers may have thought otherwise. They were available for the styled A, B, G, and 50, 60, and 70, with LP pistons also available for $5 more. I have pix of them being machined in Richland Center, WI. Their development is an interesting story in my opinion.
