I'm just posting the interesting wear spot on the cam of my late model 720 Diesel. It's the anti-reverse cam. The close up is of the injection cam lobe for #2 cylindner.

I have a decent cam out of a 70 diesel. Anyone have any clue if it would work properly in my 720?

I'm in the SE corner about 90 miles south of St. Louis.

Thanks,

Hello Tyler
Your 70 cam will work and yes it can run backwards. It will only do so if you lug it down close to its last breath. If you are goin to pull it you need the anti reverse. My 720 had the same ware pattern. Some one tried to weld it.These tractors are lot fun and work.Do it right!
Have fun Russ

Albert warned us about cam wear on the injection lobes in NY 2005. Many tractors need the cam/injection followers aligned to run the cam centered on the lobe. Installing a used cam is just purchasing somebody elses worn out cam/followers. Both need to be resurfaced at Robert's Carburator.

Your 720 will now have the ability to run backwards.
