JD 850 series Hay Rake Pics in reply to jossette, 06-09-2006 19:20:49
These are also posted in implement photos section to help ID rakes. JD made a tool to bend and adjust the reel rods and it was just a long pipe handle fastened to a channel to bend the rods with. If you need more info on your rake email me. third party image

would you have a pic of the cable the gear box to the front. I do not have any of those parts that make up the cable and the front pieces.

thanks

Your pic on implement alley looks like a 851 rake to me. I posted some reel stripper part numbers there for you. See if you have a 4 or 5 digit number after LR or LRB or LBR and that 4 to 5 digit number is the serial number you will need to ID parts in a 850 series rake parts catalog PC234 for 851, 858, & 858A rakes. I have parts catalog and operators manual for those for sale. Some are used and some almost new.

Yours would be a early 851 rake. The 850 series rakes used a cast star shaped 4 bar reel wheel. 890 series used round disc wheel reels for 4 or 5 bars. I try to post back later with some pics of 850 series rakes. If I counted right was seeing 10 reel strippers on your rake. 851 up to 32134 had 10 stripper part # G6628E that JD still shows available. The used ones I have in junk would be G6803E for later 12 stripper 851 we had that was #LRB82572. Some 851 rakes were made into the early 60s and some changes were made but not many. From:>Link
Part>Link Details Part Number: G6628E Part Price: 117.70 USD On Hand: 0 Check Other Stores Description: STRIPPER Parts Country Where Used Specification Weight 4.81 LBS 2.18 Kg

I didn't look to see if we had any in junk pile today or not? A bunch of rake parts went for scrap last winter.
