Hey guys:

My 1960 730 Diesel is weak on power. I had it hooked to the dyno the other day and could pull about 40 horsepower out of it. I went to a pull today and with it weighted at 8500# I could not move the sled, I just ran out of power. Didnt spin, just died. It smokes a little but it is diesel smoke, not engine oil. It starts fine but it seems that the governor is not as responsive as it should be under load. Could this be a serious engine problem or is it my fuel system needing redone? It holds good oil pressure and never overheats. Air filter is good, I have not checked fuel filters but I have good fuel in it with conditioner.

Thanks,

John

I say pull the 4010, the 730 is a good tractor and I've seen them win with low horsepower, but you'll have more fun on the 4010!

I'd say check to see the fuel bowl is turned on,change the fuel filters, then do some tune up and adjustments like check transfer pump pressure, pump timing, rack setting and governor adjustments.
