A closed center system will operate more than one function at the same time much, much better than even the best open center system.

Closed-center systems do not pump (much) oil when hydraulic functions are not being used, saving power, and reducing heating of the system's oil.

It is easier to "tap" an extra valve and hydraulic circuit into a closed-center circuit, as you simply "tee" into the pressure line, and return circuit, rather than having to worry about open-center valves in series, and "power beyond" functions, etc..
