Are the block and head from a 1945-48 JD A interchangeable with the 1947 JD AR? My head has been rewelded and I would like to get a replacement for it on my AR. Thanks.

What serial nunber??? There were changes in 1947. Can you see the casting number on the bottom of the block? Take a look and post the info. Mike

Mike,

The SN is 267321. The tractor is about 100 miles from me so I don't know what the casting number is on the block right now. Thanks.

The block # A2324R is the one you will need. Row crop A's S/N 499,000 thru 583,999 use the same block and head (#A2325R). These tractors have an angle frame (some had a cast iron frame) instead of the pressed steel frame (tall at the back and short in front). The later head will bolt on and give a compression increase, but you'll need the shorter head studs that go with it (casting #'s A3367R and A4226R). Good luck with your AR. Mike
