I took off the manifold to the thermostats and with 3/4 of a radiater full, I started the motor for just a little bit. When the motor started I got a pretty good gush of water after that just a trickle. Before starting I tried it with the fuel shut off so it wouldn't start and only git a trickle then. Shouldn't the water pump be pumping a lot more than that? The tractor is getting to 210 degrees or a little more after about thirty minutes. Both thermostats are working( I put them on the stove) The fuel injector timing is ok, I checked it first.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Jeff

The water pump is centrifugal, and won't pump much 'till it has some speed to it.

Also, it's source of water is the radiator, and with the radiator only full to the height of the thermostats, it would quickly run out of water.

While it is VERY RARE for such a water pump to fail, outside of the bearings or seal going bad, anything is possible.

However, my bet as to the cause of your problem is a clogged radiator, either externally, with the fins plugged with debris, or internally, with crud in the tube, or both. If the fins are clean all the way through, (check by putting a light on one side, and looking through all the fins), have a radiator shop flow-check it, and clean as necessary.
