I just posted a picture in 'Help Identify' of an air intake stack that appears to be JD green.

According to my parts book and build sheet, The AA362R air stack is the tall stack for an unstyled A my pattern measures 23 1/2" from the 4 bolt flange to the top of the dome. The AA474R air stack also for the unstyled A is listed as 15" tall (short version). So a tape measure should answer your question. (I can't read yours in the picture). But that is the air stack for an unstyled A none the less.

Okay I didn't read next line in parts book lol. Yep, AA474R shows to be 15" and fit unstyled A row crop 41000-476999 or unstyled AR/AO 250000-271999. Taller stack AA362R fits same serial number range unstyled A but not the AR/AO. Jerry, the AR is a standard tread shorter tractor and AO is orchard version looking almost like AR.

I was told at one time by an old time JD man (getting fewer by the day) that the tall stack was often called a western stack to keep the intake as high away from the dust as possable and usually not as likely to tangle with a low tree limb.
Wheras the 15" stack was called an eastern stack as tree limbs etc were/are a problem and these short stacks were useful for the occasional foray in to an orchard, vineyard and older style horse barns where clearance previously was not a real issue. What I wouldn't give to have listened even closer to the musings of the old guys when I could have. But then again, my kid thinks of me as the old guy now! Still won't listen though.

Yeah I've heard similar things about those stacks too. One guy here had the long one and he sawed it off and muffler too rewelding so it would fit in garage and he was upset when he found out about the shorter ones he could have traded for ready to fit. lol.

It's a stack for an unstyled AR.

Looks like the AA362R air stack for unstyled JD A. Not sure what else it might fit? Styled A didn't use one like that and 60 and later ones were shorter with a 4 bolt flange plate on them.
