I have recently acquired a JD 50 with serial number 5000034, factory wide front end and new fenders. I was just wondering what this tractor is worth.

Hey, thanks to everyone who had positive things to say . . . I am Jeremy's mother-in-law and put the post in for him - If you could see how much this kid is excited about this tractor you would put all your negative comments back in your pocket - I apologize if I erred and stepped all over proper protocol in this forum by asking for value - curiousity took over and we just wanted a ballpark figure - weren't looking for any hard numbers. Thanks again!

Market Value = Agreed price between a willing buyer and a willing seller.

Jeremy,

What is the casting # on the rear axle housing?

Be careful, some of the guys on this board get a little touchy when people ask the value of a piece of equipment. They are pretending to be Mr. Thinker from Green Magazine.

There are people out there who bought these brand new in '52 for around $3000-$3500 that will tell you that if you make allowances for 54 yrs depreciation, they ain't worth nothin'. Really,in all honesty, just don't tell anyone what you paid for it, and then no one can tell you that it was too much! You bought it, so YOU must think it's worth it and that's all that matters.Plus the fact that you WERE smart enough to by a John Deere.

I agree with j cook. It"s worth exactly what you paid for it. I have never understood why someone will ask after they buy it rather than before. Even asking before is so subjective over the internet that it"s worthless. And pictures on the internet are just as bad as price opinions. Pictures always look better than up close and personal. EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE IT IN PERSON TO HAVE ANY IDEA!!!!! !

If the tires match and are in good shape, clutch and engine average, the fenders are correct and paint and tin are fair to good I see them from $2500 to $4000 asking price. Some are worth a little more, others a little less. Ballpark figures maybe $3000-3500.

Asking what as tractor is worth is just as rude as asking somebody how much money they make or asking your wife's bust size. No your tractor is not worth a fortune.

It is "worth" precisely what you paid for it. If someone else had bought it and had negotiated a different price, then that is what it is "worth"! There IS no hard and fast value, other than "opinion" of people who DIDN'T buy it and the value of the check used by buyers to actually pay for it.

If what you are looking for is a "concensus value" that you can "take to the bank" there isn't one.

You can subscribe to both of the brand magazines, and after a year or so, you should have a good "concensus value" of what some very over-optimistic sellers think THEIRS is worth!
