I recently purchased a 830 with a cab, and I want to start restoration after harvest, but I would like to get some information on the cab of the tractor. It has windows on all sides, the front one will flip up and go totally flat. The side ones will open about a foot or so, and the back has a door on the left side that flips around to the right side. There is a picture in the "tractor photos" under JD 830 with cab. If anybody has any info on these cabs ,or has a pic of one please e-mail me. Thanks for looking Adam

I've only driven it a little bit, but it isn't as noisy as I was expecting. Inside of the cab, like where the headliner would be in a car or truck, It has A wood pegboard/plywood type thing, I'm guessing to quiet it down a little. The tractor also has 4000 hours on it.

Thanks for replying. The cab was the reason I bought the tractor in the first place. It's not going anywhere. I've seen alot of 830's, but none with a cab. I would like to find some literature on the cabs of these tractors. How in the heck did you get that picture on here? Glen do you still have that 830?

Glad you are keeping the cab. The pic of 830 with Meade cab was a ad demo pic but dad had a 830 electric start like in that pic with same cab. It was traded for a 5010 and then 6030. I posted your pic by right clicking on it at tractor photos, then properties, then copy u-r-l and paste in image u-r-l box below. Or you can just copy and paste the page link in u-r-l link box like I did the b&w 830 pic. Looks like a good straight 830 you bought. Might find 830 literature that mentions the cab but I don't see anything seperate for it in JD publications catalogs. http://techpubs.deere.com 2 cyld. diesel site also if you haven't seen that.

I think it has the factory cab too since it looks more like the factory cabs I've seen on the Rs. The link to other pic is a Meade aftermarket cab made in Meade Kansas and we had a 830 once with that type of cab. That cab was popular in this area because the factory was closer I guess and I've seen them with hinged doors or sliding doors also. Just my opinion but I think you should leave the cab on your 830 or sell it to someone that wants one with a cab. I don't understand why so many restoring them are too lazy to fix the cab and have to take them all off and toss them in the scrap pile. Some need to be restored with cabs on them too.

The Canadian 830 I purchased had a cab. It was extremely noisy and looked as attractive as the proverbial "saddle on a sow". The aftermarket cab was scrapped and the 830 remained. If it had been an original JD cab, I would have removed and stored it, although my experience has shown it isn't any better, just more rare.

Yeah the cabs then were nothing to look at like a MM UDLX cab but they sure beat most shop made cabs or weather breaks of canvas and were nice to have when running one in a cold winter wind or a west Texas dirt storm. If everyone takes the cabs off before long you have no more true examples restored of how they were really used.
