My son is restoring a D for a school project. He has gotten the radiator apart and the flanges are cracked. The core looks good. Is it possible to get new flanges soldered on or possibly weld up the cracks without destroying the solder? I really don't want to spend the money for a complete new one since the core appears ok. Any suggestions.

If I understand you right that it's flanges soldered to the core any good radiator shop can resolder and fix that. If you mean cracks in castings yes those could be repaired by welding. Make or get new gaskets and new bolts if needed and take it all apart cleaning what you can and then let radiator shop put it back together after repairing core and check it for leaks. You didn't say if unstyled or styled D but both have weak spots prone to cracking and small cracks in lower radiator tank end so check that well.

Its the flanges that are cracked. It is for an unstyled. Do you know if it is possible to just get new flanges?

If you meant the brass sheets soldered to core you would have to make them or go to a radiator core maker for those. New complete cores are available for styled and unstyled Ds. Check with K&K Tractors on the unstyled cores. Several places sell the styled D core and I can get those but don't carry the unstyled ones right now. If you meant the cast iron parts no nothing new but can find used salvage.
