I have a JD420W that is in need of a set of pistons. Before removing the pistons I removed the ridge in the bore with a ridge reamer, about 0.080 or more. Is there a Sleeve kit for this engine or does it need to be bored out?

John, Bore out. Pistons come in .045 .090 and .125 oversizes.

May as well perk her up a notch with some LP pistons. It will run fine on todays gasoline. As the 430 guy was told. May as well resurface the cam & lifters when she's apart. They may pass the eyeball test and still be worn out of time.

Deere didn't make a sleeve kit for it. You might be able to find something through a machine shop. I'm not sure what oversize pistons are available for it.
