Fuel Gauge Question

I got this 4010D with the fuel gauge inop. Last summer I put a new sending unit on it and it still didn't work. I got a new gauge from the dealer. Went to put it on this morning only to discover several big differences. Old gauge only has 2 wires. The new gauge has 3 wires plus what looks like a Tube connection. The old gauge gives the appearance of working if I hold it up side down but dose not move at all in the right side up position.
Any help is appreciated.

Jim

The new gauges have an aditional ground terminal on them. You also have to remodel the clamp that holds the gauge in place. The tube looking thing is for a fiber optic lighting in some aplications.
