I am overhauling a 1937 unstyled A. Can I turn the flywheel fast enough by hand to see if the oil pump is okay, or do I need to remove it look closer. thanks

You can take the plugs out to make it easier and faster to turn over. How are you checking it? By looking at gauge? These tractors do not hold a large amount of pressure due to type of seals. A good cleaning and checking of pump gears and body should be done with any overhaul. Just be sure to align shaft with coupler and drive when reassembling. You can adjust pressure my using relief valve on top of oil filter housing. Get a service manual to help you identify this. Good luck with your project, Jason.

I have the pistons and rods out, and the top cover off, so I am looking right down at the pump. I still have oil in the crankcase, so should'nt I be able to see the pump shooting oil?
