620 - Where do the holes lead to??

I am rebuilding the carb on my 620. It bolts to the intake manifold with four bolts. The top two bolt holes on the manifold don't exit to the outside. They are full of rust and crud and the bolts don't want to go back in easily. The holes need cleaning out but I don't want to blow air in them if they exit inside the manifold. Where do these two holes exit? Thanks.

I think they end up in the exhaust passage that is in there for when you run the manifold in the HOT setting.
