Is anyone familiar with any John Deere M series that would have been sold in the Guin Alabama Area, circa 1949.I'm trying to track down my grand father's old tractor. I DON'T HAVE SERIAL NUMBERS.

Jim,

I think we can all appreciate you trying to get your G-father tractor back. However, without a serial number, how would you identify it even if you found the tractor after X number of yrs?

When is the last time you saw it or knew where it was? I would work backwards and try to figure who bought it from your GF, then the next person, etc...you might want to go back to the last JD service dealer and see if you can dig-up some records with your GF's M and some service calls - that would have the Serial# on the worksheets...tough one, good luck.

Thanx for the reply.Your answer has already help me lay some ground work,It was sold to W.G. Weeks in Beaverton Al.Delivered in January of 1949.Sold by a Paul Guin Of Guin tractor or Something similar to that.I bought the property a year ago and have been sorting through all the old stuff there. all of the oldcorrespondence about everything including two new pickups that he had bought both of them in Sulligent.I don't need it, have tractor enough but you know.I've got his place.Might find one of them old pick up trucks.Don't need it, got one of my own.Now the one thing I still have not found is the serial #.1949 John Deere M.My wife's Grandfather had one too.Just don't know the year or #.He was as good to me as a real grand father coulda bee
