Ben, I used to own a 6000 and liked it pretty well. Mine had a spring-ride front end and I would highly recommend that as the sprayer rides a little rough if the ground isn"t smooth due to the 24" tires. And be very careful going up a hill as these sprayers are very easy to rare up on the front. I made a small weight bracket on mine and it helped but it was still easy to make the front end come up with a half-full tank of solution. If you can get one with a good sprayer controller. If you have any other questions just ask here. Mike

I have been looking for a really good 6000. Guys tell me that 3rd gear can pop out or gear and it is really pricey to fix since it is a gm tranny only available thru JD. Pumps are pricey. But guys tell me that they are pretty faithful but they have such a small tank. I am looking for imput too, but this is what I hear.

I've put a lot of hours on our 6000, most of them in third gear and have never had it pop out of gear. The comment about being light in the front is correct. Roger

How much weight did you put up front on the sprayer? Our ground is fairly smooth but hills may become a problem. Will it tip on side hills or will it be ok on them?

Ben, I used about 130 lbs. or so and it was enough to really make a difference. I took out the tongue for the tow hitch (the sprung front end has this) and made a small bracket. You cannot use 4020 weights because the front of these sprayers is pretty light to bolt a bracket onto. You could also fill the front tire with fluid to help some. Mike

Would a weight bracket from a JD 4020 work for the 6000 sprayer? Cause we got a bunch of weights from our 4020.
