What are the fluid capacities of a JD H? Is a Owner or Service Manual available for this tractor. Did these tractors have a battery box in the frame rails if electric start? Thanks!!

Yes, the battery fit in the frame rails with a cover over it. Reproduction covers are available from many parts vendors. Capacities = 4 1/2 qts. engine oil, trans = 3 gallons, cooling sytem = 5 1/2 gallons, small gas tank = 7/8 gallon & large fuel tank = 7 1/2 gallons. OMR2011 is the Operators Manual still available now from JD Publications http:techpubs.deere.com or 800-522-7448. PC304 is the parts catalog. Service covered in the I&T JD-4 shop manual that covers JD A,B,D,G,H,M & MT tractors. The SM2000 is not what you want for a service manual and has been mistakenly touted even by JD and others as a catch all SM for letter series tractors and it has it's place for electrical and history but not what you want for overhauling your H probably. No engine or drive train repair info in it. For more service info check out Pat B's H info also.
