FYI, I've parted out several #5 mowers and have most of the commonly broken parts if you need something to put yours in good shape.

Hello Mike.

Bob is correct. The number Z1051H is the casting number on the gearbox cover on the #5 mower. These mowers were built from the mid 1930’ through the 1950’s.

There are several versions of the operator’s manual depending on the “improvements/modifications” to the mower.

These manuals are sometimes available on eBay at reasonable prices.

More information on this mower is located at the following address:

Mike,

The number you are seeing, Z1051H, is the casting number cast into the top cover of the chaincase on a #5 mower.

They built them about FOREVER!

Look for manuals on ebay, or Deere will have them.

You can call Deere Techpubs direct @ 1-800-522-7448, with credit card in hand. Be sitting down when they tell you the price, though.

Here's a #5, from "implement photos".
