hey guys, im 14 and im trying to get this john deere b that i have running. i got a coil,condensor, and points for it. the new coil has 1 black insulated wire and 1 noninsulated wire, the old coil had 1 black insulated wire, 1 red insulated wire and 1 noninsulated wire. is the new coil i got wrong or does it just hook up differently? any input will be much appreicated. thanks, jonathan

Welcome to the world of tractor collecting - good to have young folks participating!

I think we can answer your question, but we'll have to know what unit is providing the spark. If you look on the side, it will probably say WICO, followed by some letters like C, XH, or XB, and some other numbers. These units all used different coils, so if you let us know the magneto (or distributor if it is a Wico XB) information we'll go from there.
