Ok, I posted a question on here the other day asking about leaks on my 39 H. Now I've got another problem. The pto shaft turns no matter if I have it in gear or out of gear. The shaft will barely turn even if I have the pto gear shift out of gear. It won't produce any power since if I hook something up to it, it doesn't turn it. I've made sure the sliding shifter slot lines up with the lever on the top cover of transmission case. I also turned the gears while the cover was off and the sliding shifter isn't going over to engage the gears on the left of the maincase. Is there something else I can adjust to correct this problem?

You might try putting some more grease in the rear bearing and if you can still get it a new felt this may give enough drag to slow it down.

Ok, I won't worry about it then. Thanks again for your replies.

This is quite normal. What I think is happening here is a basic sort of fluid drive. Mine have done that from Day One. (PatB)

It may just be drag from thick oil ? may not be a problem ?
