Mornin", I very luckily came by and purchased an M&W oil pan for my 4010, but it doesn"t have the oil filter insert. What should I do in this scenario? The 4 studs are still on the pan where the insert mounts, but the M&W insert is not there. Will insert off of my original JD pan work? Thanks so much for any help!

According to this link which shows the oil filter and pump break-down, the insert should bolt right up to the M&W pan. For some reason, I could be wrong, but I thought that maybe the pan came with the insert from m&w. But I think I am wrong. Thanks for your information WTW! Jon in NY

If the hole in the side of the M&W pan is there for the oil filter, filter "can" will fit off your original cast iron pan. If your M&W pan does not have the hole for the filter can then you have an issue. If that is the case let me know as I would trade my M&W pan with filter can hole for yours without. DW

Hi, yes the hole for the filter insert is in the side of the pan. The studs are there to tighten the insert to the pan. But I don"t understand how the oil filtration "flow" will work. My tractor is tucked away in my cousin"s barn until May for tillage and planting sweet corn. Thanks. Jon in NY

Jon The filter can seals over a o-ringed flange on engine oil pump body. Filter sets on pump supply port. Oil pump pumps oil into the center of filter. Oil passes through paper filter and returns back into the base of oil pump where it is directed/routed to the main oil gallery in block. Hope this answers your question, DW
