Have a 3010D and was wondering how often I should Flush the cooling system and put in new anti-freeze? Manual says every season is that what everyone does?

Anti freeze has PH lever that changes over time.
The older it gets the more corrosive it becomes.
It may look good and test good but the PH level is the most important. You can get test strips from Napa or detroit diesel.

Change it..??? Why..?...

If I need to add any radiator liquid, I add straight new Ethylene Glycol, but nope..I never change it...

If I drain it, it is bright Green and clean, with same as no sediment.. The '52 JD "B" probably has the Original anti-freeze in it..the folks bought it new and we use it yet...! I know it has been in there at least since 1960, for a fact..!! Still tests -50 or better...the gauge won't read any lower, so I don't know how low it is good for...!! Same for the WD-45.. Oil I change, not anti-freeze..!!

Ron..

In these sleeved engines it is far more critical than in other types. You have to keep the additives up so the sleeves don't pit. I also think that yearly thing is more important if you run them alot. I am the first to admit that I neglect my antifreeze changes but do pretty good on my other maintainance. I have many older tractors that just sit and have barely been run. Am I to change it every year on a dozen tractors ???? Last year I drained one out that had new put in around 1978 ? It still looked like new ! I just strained it out just to get out some small junk and added some new additives and put it back in. Am I headed for disaster ???? It doesn't get any heating and cooling cycles like if it was ran much. Is this what breaks antifreeze down ?? I did change it in one that is ran more and it started looking crappy.

I know I haven't got "THE" answer just more questions.

I change my anti freeze every year and I flush the system with a radiator flush at the same time.

I change mine every two years. And always install the prescribed additive.
