As the original poster of the topic I have to admit I was venting out of frustration and should know better to be around the computer when I'm like that. My main frustration was with the way that particular dealer treated me once he had his (my) money and for what it's worth, there is a Case/IH dealer that doesn't get any more of my money because he "doesn't have time to deal with a little guy" like me. I don't expect the world out of these guys, just a fair shake. Since that posting I've visited another JD dealer who literally bent over backwards to help me correct the issues I was having with my 3020. I happy to say now that with the CORRECT parts in my carb it runs much, much better. This dealer charged me a mere $25.00 compared to $400 + of the original dealer. Another issue I found which I don't know was a contributing factor or not was that the ground polarity had been switched to a neg ground but the coil hadn't been switched around. I apologize for any feathers I may have ruffled and hope to continue to learn from this forum.

I don't know what the answer is. No sense turning on each other when dealers have a bad attitude and drive away business. Our local Deere dealer was outstanding, but when they closed and we had to go elsewhere,we were treated like a red headed ba***rd step child. Felt like we were being told "step back from the counter,we have our own customers to serve". It wasn't the fault of their regular customers, but the whole experience left hard feelings and a bad taste in the mouth. We switched brands just to get good service and a feeling of being welcome.

Don't worry about it Carson. Not everyone on this board needs to feel like "Mr Thinker". The ones that do have this weird need to try to be "Intellectually Superior" to everyone else. Doesn't matter that some of them have wrenched tractors for 30 to maybe 50 years, while some of you might be getting your first tractor. Also, it needs to be realized that emails "show no emotion." This means that what is typed in one sense of emotion, can be taken in the wrong. So don't give up on the green just yet and hang in there. As to your question, unless the dealer specifically stated that there was no warranty, the work should certainly be covered if it hasn't been too long since it was delivered. Don't let the dealer try to strong arm you into thinking you should pay if that's not the case. Good luck. Bob

I also want to add that there are quite a few vultures lurking that like to overreact to and jump on an "easy mark"

Venting in frustration happens. I got my 4020 and had immediate buyers remorse. I think every single thing on that tractor was broken off. All the return line boots shattered, all the knobs were broken off. Lights were rewired to odd switches. Pto gaurds and stay clips all gone. Window slide braces gone..cant open cab windows on hot day. Brakes shot etc etc....but at the core is a pretty good mechanical machine. As I work on it I learn more and more about it and am amazed at how the features on 68 4020 are almost identical to 2003 790 compact.

You buy a new machine and they have trouble. I bet with some work you will really like your machine. Dealing with dealers is like dealing with weather. Everyone is different and different to different people. So I feel your frustration in that regaurd. My past frustraions and successes have taught me much about how to deal with dealerships and other businesses....also because I am on both sides of that coin in an unrelated business. Don't be shy...ask alot of questions.

I would have been upset with the fact the dealer couldn't fix the carb and left me with a tractor I couldn't use as soon at it was unloaded. Does not matter if it was car, tractor, motorcycle, lawnmower, airplane or whatever. I think you will like the tractor with a proper working carb. Thanks for the post and hope the future is better for you.
Let us know when you get it going and how you like it. Guy I worked for as a kid bought a new 3010 gas that I liked as soon as I got use to the sound and figured out where they put the clutch.

I took your post as nothing more than frustration at your recent purchase and just let it go.

As my old pappy used to say "boys boys boys, lets try to get along now." That settled many a fracas around home. Have a nice day.
