this manot be tractor. i posted on tool talk and got no response. i bought a LeRoi air compressor powered by a 3 cyl john deer engine last fall. the owner said that it smoked very bad. bought it very cheap. when i got it home i put in battery got it running very easily quite suprised that it ran very nicely and made lots of air, did not smoke at all, ran for about 1/2 hour noticed that 2 of the injectors leaked a small amount past the seals thout i would fix this. went and got new seals and had the injectors checker, pop off and spray pattern was good. installed injectors with new seals. now it barley runs and has lots of white smoke. weather got cold, let it set till now. what did i do wrong? all comments welcome. it there web site for air compressors. thanks

Did you bleed air out of lines after R&R injectors? Tx Jim

I'm assuming you changed the white teflon seals that go onto the end of the pencil injectors. That isn't going to make any difference on how it runs. You could tear the seals off an put the injectors in without them and it would still run good for awhile. But there would be compression leaks around them all they'd be hissing after awhile. Whatever is wrong with the engine is not going to have anything to do with the seals. Maybe somebody screwed up the injectors somehow when they are checking them? Any chance someone tried to adjust the pop-pressures on them? I ask because the pressures should be left alone - and you shouldn't try to turn up old injectors to meet new specs. And maybe you did something to the injector returns on top so the return-line is plugged somewhere. That will shut the engine down. Try unhooking the return line at the injection pump, let the fuel run free for a bit, and see if it runs better. This also might be a coincidence and you've got a separate problem elsewhere. Since it ran good once for you - it's doubtful it's anything else but a fuel problem. Check the fundementals.

i assume you are talking about the return line seals leaking . how long did you run it after reinstalling injectors? did any dirt or water get on top of the pistons?did you replace fuel filters?
