What am I not seeing? How does one put on a generator v-belt on a model D styled tractor with out removing the fan shaft?

If generator mounted on bracket off governor side you used D3116R belt and yes it originally fastened together with a staple looking fastener D2913R. The belt later subbed toAD1860R and AD2340R. If generator mounts up front on water pipe the belt should slip over fan and pulley between shaft and radiator. Ask for an adjustable link belt at auto supply or industrial bearing supply place. You can ask if they have V belt hinged splicers but they probably won't know what you are talking about. I have a older Flexco setup that splices B size v belts but the installing tool broke and they updated to a newer style now.
