I am considering buying a JD 3020 LP. This will be my first new generation tractor. I have several 2 cylinders. Can anyone tell me how many were produced?
Any opinions or advice on this particular model?
Thank you in advance

We had one for 8-9 years. Syncro shift, not a side console. We used it mostly as a loader tractor and it was really good for that. Only negative thing I remember about it was it was hard starting.

May be a good choice as their fuel is about the cheapest going right now.

Side Console 3020/4020 or any LP between 1969 to the end of the 20 series production are very uncommon to rare.

The number of LP 3020 was small. LP prevents fuel contaminating the oil and washing oil off the cylinder walls, so it makes for a very clean (inside) engine with extreme longevity.

You need to study the manual and make sure the LP parts are in good shape. The vaporizer and the regulator is old enough to give trouble.

You have to start on vapor alone, then when the engine is warm (and on vapor it won't plow) to vaporize liquid to gas you can turn off the gas valve while opening the liquid valve. When you get ready to shut it down you turn off the liquid valve and let run until it has burned up all the vaporized liquid.

You need a liquid tap on your house propane tank to fill the tractor.

I is possible to connect up a BBQ tank when you run it out of gas in the field.

The serial numbers run from 50000 beginning in 1964 and ending with 129897 in 1970. If the serial numbers run continuous there were 79,897 built. That is about all the info i know on them. I am looking at a 4010 my neighbor has, would be my new generation also.

I'm just wondering----where did you get that horribly incorrect information?
