I bought a very used one in 1991, didn"t take long before I found myself in the same situation. If you have a mechanical track adjuster: back off the nut and adjuster to move the idler wheel back toward the rear, if yours is hyd. adjuster: remove grease fitting and open relief port screw at front of adjuster. Use a come-along ect. to pull idler wheel as far back as you can, then large crowbars, pry bars ect. to work it back on with-out removing master link( I never could find my master link ). It helps to use chains with chain binders, come-alongs ect. attached to anything above the track that is strong enough to suport weight of track while you pry it back on. Your JD dealer should be able to get: Service Manual, SM-2034, 1000 Series Crawler Tractors. You will need it if you plan to keep the crawler. Good luck, Warren

you will need to take a close look at every pin in the track.the one you are looking for will have a dimple in the center.this one you can knock out with a hammer and punch.sometimes it is possible to replace track without opening it altho hard to do.
