I have a 70 diesel with a cracked block. I am considering replacing it with a 730 block, head, pistions and cam to increase horse power. I would like to know if anyone has done this. Researching parts books has been inconclusive to me. I"m sure I am not the first to want to give the old 70 a boost!

It's a bolt on swap. The 730 cam however is of the anti-reverse style with a peanut shapped injection pump lobe. The 70's run backwards when given 1/2 a chance cam. It will fill the injection pumps with only a low pressure (18psi?) primary fuel system. The 730's primary fuel system runs about 60psi due to a short injection pump fill time period. The 720/730 HP comes from improved intake flow, narrow spray injectors with six holes rather than 5 and a 13mm ijection pump that delievers the fuel charge in a short period of timethan a 10mm. The cam's valve lift and duration is identical form the 70 through 730. There is a set of dowl pins on a 730 head/block that isn't on a 70.
