Here is what it looks like right now. It is the farthest I have ever had this tractor apart.

Here is what I did to the fanshaft once I got it back from the dealer. Luckly, my local dealer in Lebanon, IN has a parts gut that knows two-cylinders and also a service guy that can fix them. The friction clutch was welded in the past and all messed up. The discs wouldn't budge on the press so they had to cut everything off. I wasn't regretting taking to them considering i didn't have the necessary tools or experience.

While I have the radiator out I am going to finally paint the JOHN DEERE on the upper tank and also on the rear axle housing. My sister is home from college so she is going to do it because I am not very good with the little detail things. I tried but I wasn't very steady.

Thanks for looking. This is my first crack at multiple pictures so I hope it turns out well.

1 Dollar -- shoot me an email (use keyword Governor) and I will share some tips for you as relates to the governor-fan shaft relationship F-I-T mentioned, and also a neat way one enterprising fellow painted the letters you are having a time with. (PatB)

Be certain to be careful how you go about measuring and adjusting the heal and lash of the governor gear set. If it the clearances were set to within the service band before, and you didn't disturb the shim packs, it should reassemble all right, but if I were down that far, I would check, measure, and re-set it properly. Odds are that you won't be down this far again, and you're less than a dozen fasteners away from having it out where you can see it and set it.

Or at least you hope you'll never be down this far again.
