Sorry, Joe, I did not see your post until now. You said: >>>...When I first put it on and run it, it seemed to be OK but after a bit it is noisy and sounds pretty awful....The big bearing appears to go too far onto the shaft and I find nothing to too stop it. The drawings in the I&T manual show a snap ring and a bearing washer and I have neither on mine. Could this be the cause of all my problems?...>>> You probably know that that bearing only turns when the pulley is at rest and the engine is running. Generally if you have a problem with this bearing such as noise, it goes away as soon as you engage the clutch. There is supposed to be a snap ring in there to keep the bearing in position, though I thought the bushing would keep it basically trapped in place. It would be a good idea to install the snap ring and washer. Have you checked out the bearing? Does it run smooth, and have you packed it with hi-temp wheek bearing grease? After installation, what exactly happens? Describe the noise, when it starts, and when it stops if at all. Do you idle rhe engine with the clutch engaged or disengaged?
