I"ve got a problem with my PTO not engaging. The light comes on, and the switch is sending +12v to the clutch. I get continuity when using a voltmeter, but the voltage does not drop when the clutch is plugged in. I have a friend who works on small engines (he lives in another state) and he told me to adjust the 3 self tensioning bolts that hold the front of the clutch on. (one at 12o"clock, another at 5 and the last one at 7. However, he does not know how much to tighten them. I tried 1/2 turn, but that didn"t seem to work. Anyone have any ideas? or run into a similar problem?

thanks, Joe

I set them to where they have .008-.010 clearance. also check the ground wire and make sure it is grounding. coil may have gone south.

Where exactly do I check the clearance? I was told that there is a groove between the bolt and the iron, maybe it"s dirty but I"m not seeing it.

I don"t believe that there is a ground wire (self-grounding) and I also get continuity between the positive on the clutch and ground elsewhere on the tractor.

Thanks for the help, I"m currently looking for a manual...

Joe
