New to this tractor stuff, so bear with me. I recently bought a JD2240 with a loader and want to change the hydraulic fluid/oil. Is there anything that I need to do to make sure that I get the old oil out of the hydraulic lines going to the loader?

Also, is there a difference between hydraulic oil & hydraulic fluid?

Thanks

I would refill it with JD Hyguard or case ih hyd oil. I see alot farmers with the cenex or farmland hyd. oil in there tractors and they have nothin but troubles with it. I personally wouldn"t oil my daughters tricycle wheels with it. It causes bearing failures and wet break failures. bc

It is going to be very hard to get that fluid out of the loader. If it is just normal looking and not contaminated than you may not worry about it. But if it is milky from water or something ? I would use a chain hoist or another loader to lift it up and down while holding the valve open and the drain plugs out to help work out the old fluid. Be sure to also pull the strainer out of the tranny bottom and clean it.
