720 clutch

When replacing the clutch fork and bronze collar, does it need to be at a 90 degree angle to the splined shaft, or should the shaft be rotated back 2-3 splines to keep it from being so close to the crankcase fill cap? thanks.

I did two B tractors. The shaft is 90* from the fork. 100% positive.

I think alot of them end up being at 90* but then I mark them before I pull them apart too.
