I brought my 630 LPG out of the shed after a 3-4 month rest. The tractor has always ran great. Now I need to use the choke to start it. Never had to in the 10 years I have owned it before. It will run fine at fast idle but anywhere at or below 3/4 idle it will run fine for about 7-8 seconds then load up (flood) for about 2-3 seconds. It will die if the throttle is set to slow. It then repeats the process. I get some black smoke out the exaust when it loads up. I am repairing the shed so I have not checked the tractor yet. Will be another two weeks before I can. My first thoughts are maybe a partly pluged vent on the convertor or improper oil level in the air cleaner. Any ideas?

I think you have a good possibility there in the converter, especially if it is still the one from the factory. The converter on your tractor is easier to deal with than the early models, you should have an M4.

You might look for other restrictions in the air intake. Years of oil mist combining with dust can restrict the air intake. Is your air intake under the hood. Mouse nest?

I think you are on the right track. You probably know that the choke is not a choke, but really a "lean". If the oil in the air cleaner is thick because of cold temps, the air can't get through as well, so the mixture would possibly be too rich. The "choke" bypasses some air to lean the mixture. But this time of year that wouldn't be an issue unless that oil has turned to sludge somehow. Not likely. You should service the air cleaner anyway, but I think you will need to look at the converter, like you said.
