Is anyone familiar with JD 3 pt snowblower models? Sounds like they haven't made any in a number of years. I'm trying to find out if they ever made one suitable for a 3020. If so, what models would those be? I'm also curious to know what years these models were made. It might be neat to find one of the correct vintage for my 3020. I've seen a 270 and a 275 that appear to be about right, but I'm not sure on the HP requirements or cutting width. Does anyone have any experience with either of these models?

Does anyone have a 3 pt. snowblower on a 3020 (of any make)? How do you like it?

Thanks, Deere Diesel. Yes, I'd like to know more about the 686 coming up for auction. Do you have a link... or do you know the auction company's website/phone number.

I have a JD 686 that is close to 8 foot. Double auger. It is a Canadian McGee and is a very nice blower. I have it on a 4020. Low reverse on a synchro 4020 at pto 540 is still a bit fast for blowing out banks. Otherwise, plain old snowfall a foot deep it handles no problem. However...we also have a international 80 snowblower on a 460 farmall in 7 foot double auger. 1st reverse is also a bit fast on the 460. With the torque ampliefier engaged it works pretty well. That blower throws snow much further. I believe the gear ratios are different on the fan. I think both blowers are early 80"s vintage. The 460 is slightly less than 50 horse and tho 4020 is a little less than 100 horse. The biggggg g thing is that the 4020 has a cab. Northern MN that is an issue!

Nylon, I would love to see photos of your blower, too. Anyone have a blower from the late 60s or early 70s still in operation.... or restored?

I used to have a 270, and at present have a 240. Both were made around 1972 - 1976. My 240 is rated for a max. of 60 horsepower. THe 270 must be rated higher, but I don't have the specs. I use the 240 on my Deere 1020 - or sometimes on my IH 275.

Are you thinking about the units built in Canada by McKee for Deere?

I'm really not sure who built what. All I know is they had JD paint and decals on them and came with JD operators manuals. I'm particularly interested in the models from the late 60s and early 70s up to the present.

My Dad uses a Frontier 7 ft. on his 71 3020 and it works just fine. We had to add 400lbs. of wieght up front though because the front end gets pretty light. It seems to never run out of power, I wouldn"t go any bigger then a 7ft. blower or I think you might run out of power.

Sorry... meant to say I'd love to see some photos (of the 3020) to Bunghammer. Also, is his a synchro or powershift? How are the reverse speeds for snowblowing? Thanks.
