Has anyone ever drilled the block for petcocks? Have the block out, looks the same as newer blocks that have them. Getting old and need all the help I can get to crank it. Thanks For any Info you can provide. Don

As far as B blocks go, the first B tractors to have petcocks were styled 39 models when the engine displacement increased. All unstyled B's did not have the block with petcocks. As far as drilling them in, I had a buddy that built a pulling tractor, and did this to help cranking. If you have a stock tractor I would try to keep the tractor's integrity by leaving it factory. If your mag is hot, and the carb is set right, a few easy spins and you should be running.

Don, if you have a block in a 35 model B and it isn't drilled for petcocks, I'm pretty sure you don't have the original block. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

The block on my '35 doesn't have the petcocks either. Like the guy above, I think they went to them in the '39. Another question is, when did they go away from them? Was that timed directly with electric start?
