I am trying to identify a tractor that I am looking to buy. I am told it is a 1936 or 37 BO. This is a standard looking tractor with the only thing to resemble a orchard is the hood with guards. The tractor has turning brakes and serial number 326689. Can anyone tell me how rare or any special info about this tractor?? Thank you.

The true determination of whether it is a BO or BR is the Deere Archives, having it researched is the way to go. I had a 37 BR with the scooped hood and no turning brakes. Deere put the same hoods from a BO to a BR to demish the stock. In 1990, thought it was a BO until I got the research back. Turning brakes were an option on BR's-see parts book.
Best wishes.

That would be a 1937 model....BO's had the little covers over the protrusions on the hood and sometimes had cover/fairing affairs over the outsides of the fenders on the rear wheels. The BO and BR's are quite small (around 12 drawbar and 15 belt horsepower) but command rather high prices on today's antique tractor market. The individual/turning brakes were a feature on the BO's to assist them in making short turns in orchards and vineyards while pulling tillage tools, sprayers and various other implements used in orchard and vineyard operations.

think i remembe reading somewhere when someone wanted to order a new BR with turning brakes the dealer just ordered them a BO as they already had the turning brakes as a standard feature? I could be wrong
