I was taking my 60 out for a drive when it started back firing and then, boom it back fired really loud and quit. I pulled back to my garage and loked it over. The ignition timing was ok, but it would compression lock when I turned it over. So I checked the valve timing. At LHEO the exhaust valve was closed but the intake was open. I then checked cam bearings and cam gear bolts all were good, cam to crank timing was also good. What else would have caused the timing to change? What am I forgetting to check?

Yep, I got it running yesterday. The keyway on the rotor was sheared off. I don't know why I didn't see that before. I also noticed my coil gets really hot and is leakin' oil out. Mabey this had somthing to do with it, who knows.

Our B started missing & backfiring one day, the rotor button had caught the condenser wire in the distributor & almost cut it in two. I'd check in there before I'd start pulling ther engine apart, might get lucky??

hmmm... pull the valve cover off and see what happened in there. I'm thinking you broke a rocker arm.
